According to the newspaper, “It becomes us of New England and the non-slaveholding states generally . . . to consider how far the constitutional privileges and guaranteed rights of the South shall be infringed . . .and the whole country threatened with civil war, by infatuated madmen – mischief-making declaimers and reckless arguers on abstract principles.”
